The Emergence of Mission to Seafarers
In the nineteenth and twentieth century thousands of seafarers arrived on the banks of the Birrarung/Yarra or Port Melbourne having worked on ships with cargo and passengers from all over the world. The transient life of a seafarer often came with complications and much difficulty. To remedy the hardships of life at sea, which was often for months at a time, Missions to Seafarers were established in the UK, Melbourne and elsewhere.
This story will look at our own mission here in Melbourne.
