Greetings history friends and colleagues,
It's been a whole year since we launched our newsletter, and are excited to bring you another edition. As the days get longer and thoughts turn to the holidays, it's time to remind ourselves of just how active the field of history is each year and its broader role in the 21st century.
As such, HistoryAtWork formally endorses the Value of History Statement adopted across Australia in July this year. In this edition of our newsletter, we invite you to read and reflect on the statement. Perhaps you have some thoughts about the statement you'd like to share with us.
In other history-related news, History Week 2019 is in full swing again. Have a look through the events calendar to find a lecture or exhibition near you. With warmer days ahead, perhaps a walking tour is more your style! If you're doing some research of your own - or know somebody who is - our new DIY Memoir may be helpful in putting together your or their personal or family story.
Finally, we also share some thoughts from the recent ICOM Conference held in Kyoto. It was a wonderful opportunity to learn about the achievements and the challenges faced by museums and history practitioners across the globe.
Happy reading!
Emma, Susan and Carissa
